The Toronto Sound Mosaic

The Toronto Sound Mosaic is a unique historical investigation into the most neglected part of the city’s environment - its soundscape. Drawing from existing historical documents and Toronto residents’ personal accounts, this documentary soundscape composition charts the city’s metamorphosis from lakeside trading post to multicultural metropolis. Performances on both days will commence with an historical Toronto Island soundwalk led by a member of the Canadian Association for Sound Ecology. The Toronto Sound Mosaic is included in a weekend of outdoor electroacoustic concerts called Sound Travels.
