Flight of the Passenger Pigeons
Two thousand elementary school children, under the leadership of professional artists, created papier mâché replicas of the now extinct passenger pigeons. The project culminates on Canada Day, July 1, 2000, with a sidewalk parade of students and their birds along Lake Shore Blvd. to the grounds of the Gatehouse (3101 Lake Shore Blvd.) for a ceremony to dedicate a student designed and built community bird feeding/housing station. Artist workshop leaders are: Liliana Delrisarri, Sarindar Dhaliwal, Ken Kettlewell, Wendy Lilly, Lorna Livey, Dania Madera-Lerman, Barb Symons, Gabrielle Wimmerschoff.
